The incarceration system in the United States has leaned towards becoming more punitive than rehabilitative. A direct consequence would be issue of mass incarceration. In fact, imprisons most people world with over 2 million prisoners. Because influx inmates prisons, conditions deteriorate, creating a harsh prison environment that may detrimental to psychological, physical, and social aspects an inmate. 64 percent prisoners have reported mental health concerns experienced suicidal feelings. Rehabilitative programs methods aimed at reducing criminal traits recidivism do exist but issues funding resources. rehabilitative method sports recreational activities is proven effective minimal for funding. Sports profound effects on alleviating depression, stress, anxiety. It been shown affect prefrontal cortex, hippocampus, amygdala; all three neurological components allow control behavior greater reduction activity. also decreased risks obesity contributed positive cardiovascular, immune, digestive systems. Socially, allowed formation new relationships overall sense freedom setting not shackled by chains. Implementing both efficient rehabilitation.
